Garden in Box Project.
Fezile Dabi District Education ten Schools attended training of Garden in Box Project by Lusa Community Chest Sponsored by 4RACING, which ensured the participants understood the requirements for starting a garden and their responsibilities for ensuring its success. A full, fun day of soil preparation and planting followed, with all participants eagerly getting involved. Follow-up support will be provided over the next few months to ensure the successful care and maintenance of the gardens, as well as for schools receiving JOJO TANKS and signature boards. Additionally, gifts of Garden in Box were gratefully received by participants for distribution to their network of five ECD centres and 5 Primary Schools.
Lusa endeavors to make this initiative accessible to as many community partners as possible. However, many of the Organisations, ECD’s, and Schools although eager to embark on this growing journey, do not have the means to purchase the Garden in a Box product. Therefore, we are excited to partner with one of our donors 4RACING to make this project possible.
It is hoped that our current network of ECD’s and Schools will all become nodes in the community with successful, sustainable vegetable gardens and that they will empower parents, siblings and other families to plant their own household gardens, thereby creating a ripple effect of food security.
A big shout out to our donor 4RACING for making this project possible and to our Stakeholder partner Fezile Dabi District Education under the leadership of District Director Dr Chuta working together to restore hope and transform lives.
