Since its inception in 2014 in Cape Town, The Street Store concept has spread across the world, providing assistance to thousands of homeless and less fortunate people. Donations of new or good condition second hand clothing are sorted by volunteers and an outdoor “shop” is organised where clothing is displayed. People in need are invited to visit the store, and choose clothing for themselves and their families. Lusa Community Chest has hosted and assisted partners in organising Street Stores and we would like to invite more people to take the opportunity to host their own Street Store.
The Street Store projects invite the homeless and less fortunate people of our communities to choose for themselves and their families clothing donated to our clothes bank.
